THE NISSAN QUEST THROUGH THE YEARS

Currently in its fourth generation, the Nissan Quest has seen many updates and changes since its debut in 1993. To better help our customers navigate these changes, we’ve detailed a brief history of each generation below, concentrating on major changes to parts and equipment.

1ST GENERATION (1993 - 1998)

The Nissan Quest debuted in 1993 as Nissan’s newest family van option. Built in collaboration with Ford, the first-gen Quest featured many of the day’s top amenities, including a 3.0-liter V6 engine, as well as a seven-passenger seating arrangement, a tilt-only steering wheel and a stereo with cassette player. In 1996, the Quest received its first update, which included a new grille, headlights, dashboard and bumpers.

2ND GENERATION (1999 - 2002)

The next time the Quest was updated was during its first full redesign in 1999. This newest version of the Quest added more aerodynamic features, as well as a driver’s side sliding door. The minivan also received a new 3.3-liter SOHC engine that provided a welcome power boost to the Quest. New equipment added to the Quest during its second iteration included a rear stabilizer bar, a strut tower brace, acceleration-sensitive strut valving, a six-CD changer, a new leather-trimmed steering wheel and new pretension seatbelts.

3RD GENERATION (2004 - 2009)

Redesigned once again in 2004 – there was no 2003 model – the Nissan Quest received a new platform that was longer and slightly more rigid. A new higher-powered engine was added to the third-gen Quest as well that rated at an exceptional 240 horsepower. The longer wheelbase on the platform contributed to even more interior cargo and passenger room on the family van. Other new Nissan Quest parts found on this newest version of the Quest included a new moonroof glass arrangement, two DVD screens, more airbags, stability and traction control, a power rear hatch, dual climate control and rear backup sensors. In 2007, the Quest received a few minor updates that included a new grille and dashboard.

4TH GENERATION (2011 - PRESENT)

The minivan’s current incarnation debuted in 2011 – once again Nissan discontinued production on the van for the 2010 model year. This newest version of the Nissan Quest was highly praised for its power, refinement and agility, cementing its status as a top minivan choice among family car shoppers. For this new generation, the Quest once again received a more powerful engine: a 3.5-liter V6, as well as a new, more efficient continuously variable transmission.

The fourth-generation Nissan Quest is equipped with more modern convenience and luxury features such as alloy wheels, a power-sliding door, and Bluetooth and iPod integration. The van also boasts a panoramic moonroof, Nissan’s Around View system and one-touch folding third-row seats. For the van’s latest model, the Quest has received a more refined transmission that helps improve its fuel economy. It also received new safety features, such as Nissan’s moving-object detection system.
